Sukabumi, ummi.ac.id – The 21st batch of English Literature students organized an art performance combining drama and traditional dance. The art stage, named "Gending Karesmen Kidung Sundayana," resulted from six months of meticulous and dedicated preparation, held on Saturday (10/02/2024) at the UMMI Auditorium.

The event was attended not only by fellow English Literature students but also by cultural enthusiasts and members of the surrounding community of Universitas Muhammadiyah Sukabumi, who helped enliven the atmosphere. The story presented in this performance originated from an ancient manuscript from the Padjadjaran Kingdom found in Bali, known as the Kidung Sundayana. The adapted and modified story tells of a Princess of Padjajaran who was offered tribute in the Bubat War by the Majapahit Kingdom for territorial expansion.

This performance successfully created a unique magnetism for the audience by presenting entertaining fiction well-received by all. Moreover, the performance also served as valuable literary critique learning for students the following semester.

In her warm address, Dr. Fenty Sukmawaty, M.Hum., expressed that the art performance presented by English Literature students entertained and provided deep cultural insights.

"We hope that activities like this can continue to be held in the future to enrich the artistic and cultural experiences on our campus," she said.

This art performance is a valuable moment in the campus cultural arts scene and inspires other students to explore Indonesia's artistic and cultural potential.
